Hartmann von Aue gehört zusammen mit Wolfram von Eschenbach und Gottfried von Straßburg zu den bedeutendsten Epikern der mittelhochdeutschen Klassik um 1200. Da keine Urkunden überliefert sind, ist die Rekonstruktion seiner Lebensumstände schwierig. Aus seiner Feder stammen u.a. die Versromane Erec und Iwein. Manfred Günter Scholz (geb. 1938), Studium der Germanistik, Anglistik und Philosophie. 1979–2003 Professor für Deutsche Philologie in Tübingen.
